  • Overview

    The Infectious Disease Cluster in the Technical Strategy Team within the Health Programs Group is implementing an action plan to better coordinate portfolio-wide tracking and support for country projects with infectious disease components (HIV, TB, Malaria). One area of the action plan focuses on improving external visibility for the work that MSH is doing in these areas and promoting thought leadership. The Intern will work in support of this aspect of the team’s work.

    • Internship candidates must be full or part time students earning university credit for their internship.
    • This is an unpaid internship and candidates are responsible for their own housing and transportation.

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Help strategize technical topics for MSH newsletters and blogs; gather information from the relevant key staff, draft content.
    • Work with IDC team to develop a plan for showcasing different aspects of MSH’s work, selecting topics and modes of communication.
    • Collaborate with HPG’s communication team on outlets, appropriate media, content and timing.
    • Assist with planning external webinars, preparing content, capturing discussions, and disseminating on social media and other internal and external channels.
    • Assist with layout, design and editing of portfolio’s technical documents.
    • Assist with preparation of materials for international conferences.
    • Strategize how to translate available data into messages, documents, or advocacy items.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Graduate or current student in Public Health or related degree programs.
    • Experience with Microsoft applications including: MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
    • Excellent interpersonal, coordination and team building skills. 
    • International development experience desired.
    • Spanish, Portuguese or French language skills desired.
    • Experience working in a culturally- diverse setting.
    • Experience writing blogs and other technical or program documents.
    • Familiarity with social media.
