  • Overview

    The Organized Network of Services for Everyone’s Health (ONSE Health) program is a five-year, USAID-funded program to improve maternal, newborn, and child survival and well-being in Malawi. ONSE Health is working towards four main objectives: (1) increasing access to priority health services; (2) improving quality of priority health services; (3) strengthening performance of health systems; and (4) increasing demand for priority health services. Water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) are core components of the program. WASH activities aim to improve water supply and sanitation services in remote, hard to reach, and underserved communities, as well as in health facilities.

     

    OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

    The HR Country Manager implements practices and activities of the Human Resources Management (HRM) Office in Malawi providing a full spectrum of HR services and programs linked to organizational and project needs and objectives. He or she works closely with MSH Corporate Human Resources, Project Directors, and the Malawi Leadership Team to support the achievement of organizational and country goals and objectives through the development implementation, and management of HR activities.

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Must have strong understanding of Malawian employment laws.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff, clients, and consultants.
    • Demonstrated ability to successfully coordinate activities with senior project management staff and proven ability to work successfully on a team in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and fluency in local languages; other languages strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated computer proficiencies, including Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word,
    • Excel, PowerPoint and database management.
    • Ability to travel to assigned districts for HR initiatives as needed.
    • Demonstrated ability to implement and manage all aspects of the HRM function in line with current practices and trends.
    • Ability to gain the trust and confidence of colleagues and to handle confidential matters discreetly and have experience in conflict resolution.
    • Ability to competently assess priorities; manage a variety of complex activities simultaneously in a time-sensitive environment, and meet competing deadlines.
    • Demonstrated ability to implement and manage all aspects of the HRM function in line with current practices and trends.
    • Demonstrated ability to gain the trust and confidence of colleagues and to handle confidential matters discreetly and have experience in conflict resolution.
    • Ability to competently assess priorities; manage a variety of complex activities simultaneously in a time-sensitive environment, and meet competing deadlines.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or similar field from an accredited university.
    • At least 7 years of demonstrated HR management experience with at least 3 years as a Manager.
    • Experience required in international development programs in Malawi; demonstrated experience working with USG funded programs.
