  • Overview

    Management Sciences for Health (MSH) is seeking a Strategic Information Director for a potential multi-year program. The purpose of the program is to support access, availability and affordability of quality essential medicines and health products in the public health sector in developing countries. The scope of the program is to provide and establish global and local procurement and distribution services of medicines and health products up to the last mile.

    The Deputy Program Director (DPD) is a key leadership position that is responsible for overseeing the management and operation of program implementation at the country level, coordinating country-based activities, and ensuring improved program performance. The DPD is a member of the management team and, with the Program Director, represents the program to USAID, representatives from collaborating country governments, and stakeholders. 

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Ensure that the program identifies and addresses the needs and interests of donor and that the solutions reflect the strategies and design of the program. 
    • Institute a performance improvement culture and processes necessary for ongoing improvement of the effectiveness and efficiency of the overall program implementation at the country level.
    • Oversee program operations and field-based activities to ensure efficient and effective planning and implementation of program activities.
    • Manage country office input for the timely, coordinated development and execution of work plans that meet country requirements and address the needs of USAID.
    • In collaboration with the finance and human resource teams, ensure that country offices are adequately and efficiently resourced.
    • Support communication and coordination with USAID and other stakeholders.
    • Coordinate with the supply chain unit to ensure the deployment and execution of services and assistance to countries and on-time, high-quality deliverables.
    • Ensure that program activities are compliant with SOPs and MSH policies.
    • In collaboration with the management team, ensure that timely remedial actions are taken to mitigate risks.
    • Represent the program to USAID missions and other donors at the country levels.

    Qualifications and Experience

    1. Bachelor’s degree in management, public administration, public health, or relevant discipline; Master’s preferred.
    2. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience managing a team of experts on activities related to procurement, supply chain system strengthening and/or public health in developing countries.
    3. Demonstrated competence in strategy development and execution of public health projects.
    4. Demonstrated broad technical and management expertise and experience.
    5. Strong interpersonal, writing, and oral presentation skills.
    6. Experience motivating and empowering teams to ensure the consistency, timeliness, and quality of program deliverables.
    7. Experience in both managing country offices and HQ-based functions.
    8. Broad-based knowledge and expertise in supply chain system strengthening a must.
    9. Fluency in English is required; fluency/proficiency in French highly desirable.
