The Accounting Assistant provides support in safeguarding the assets (financial and physical) of MSH and ultimately the US Government or the other donor against fraud, loss or misuse including ensuring that money expended is done in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, MSH policy and any costs principles imposed by the donor agency.

Specific Responsibilities


  • Prepare full valid documentation for payment and ensure that all paid invoices agree with supporting documentation, including price quotes, purchase orders, and shipping receipts.
  • Ensure that all quotes have adequate prior authorization and approval.
  • Assist with ensuring that all timesheets are submitted before salary is paid.
  • Provide Accounting Support to District
  • Assist in reviewing Fuel and Petty Cash for the Districts and process Fuel and Petty cash payments.
  • Assist in processing Surtax returns.
  • Assist in following up issues.
  • Any other duties assigned from time to time

Qualifications and Experience

Diploma in Accounting in a relevant field required or equivalent experience.

2 - 3 years’ accounting experience for USAID-funded organizations

Experience with general aspects of US Government federal regulations, specifically USAID regulations, desirable.
