Overview

The Procurement Assistant provides support in the engagement of consultants and purchases of goods and services for an assigned portfolio of projects in Malawi. S/he works together with the project, country office finance team, and the other players in the Country Operations Management Unit (COMU) to, carry out the steps of procuring goods and services according to MSH SOPs and donor requirements.

Specific Responsibilities

The Procurement Assistant provides support in the engagement of consultants and purchases of goods and services for an assigned portfolio of projects in Malawi. S/he works together with the project, country office finance team, and the other players in the Country Operations Management Unit (COMU) to, carry out the steps of procuring goods and services according to MSH SOPs and donor requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required or equivalent experience.

 

2-3 years’ experience purchasing for USAID-funded organizations. Experience with general aspects of US Government federal regulations, specifically USAID regulations, desirable

 

Strong software skills including extensive experience with Excel and Word required. Ability to prioritize tasks.  Strong organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with program, finance and operations staff toward the achievement of project and organization objectives helpful. Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal required. Business knowledge of English required, fluent English highly desirable. Skilled at working in a culturally diverse environment and with offices in multiple locations helpful.
