Overview

The EPI Technical Officer will be responsible for ensuring that EPI activities are well-coordinated and integrated with other service provision elements such as child health, maternal health and family planning. S/he will work with MOH/EPI unit, and other partners, providing technical assistance at national level and in priority districts. S/he will provide expertise in the design, implementation, evaluation, and documentation of interventions leading to sustainable and high quality routine immunization coverage.

Specific Responsibilities

The Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) Technical Officer will:

  • Contribute to strategic planning, implementation and monitoring of immunization activities of the MOH/EPI unit and partners to ensure smooth integration of new vaccines into the immunization system as well as improving national and select district immunization coverage, data analysis and use, and reporting;
  • Develop and/or adapt tools and strategies, with MOH/EPI unit and partners, to improve the availability of and demand for immunization services (e.g. quality and effective use of data, community links, micro-planning, supervision, and recasting of RED to REC) including their integration with other maternal and child health interventions, as appropriate;
  • Conduct regular supportive supervision and on-job training in priority regions and districts to build capacity and provide evaluation and feedback;
  • Supervise the Immunization officers in supporting districts to implement REC approach including microplanning

Qualifications and Experience

  • Masters in Public Health or any related field
  • Five years of experience in the field of public health with a specialization in maternal and child health; including provision of technical assistance on routine immunization.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills-demonstrated ability to interact professionally with culturally and linguistically diverse staff, clients, and consultants;
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and meet deadlines with attention to detail and quality;
  • Experience in working in a multi-agency/organizational environment.
