Overview

The Zonal Finance and Administration Officer will be responsible for assisting the Accounts Manager with safeguarding the assets (financial and physical) of MSH and ultimately of the donor against fraud, loss or misuse. The F&AO is responsible for ensuring that all financial and administrative transactions are accurate and timely for processing at the Central Office, in Lilongwe, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, MSH accounting policies and procedures, and donor requirements.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Review districts and zonal budgets, financial and administrative forms and templates, ensures complete adherence to approved work plans, budget and MSH policies
  • Ensure timely submission of liquidations each month as per policy.
  • Disburse cash or processing of mobile/electronic payments, including per diem and transport to workshop participants and recipients during program activities
  • Review and approve liquidations for completeness as per policy and USG requirements
  • Manage timely submission of weekly and monthly fuel liquidations.
  • Ensures that inventory is assigned, secured, and tracked by Administrative Coordinators at each district office and that proper compliance and controls are in place.
  • Provide support as needed to districts in administrative and financial matters, following up with Central Office support as needed.

Qualifications and Experience

  • University Degree in Accounting or equivalent certification.
  • Registered/chartered accountant preferred.
  •    5 Years of work experience in accounting or finance required.
  • Experience working for international organizations with US Government funding preferred.
  • Experience with procurement processes that ensure strong internal controls and solid documentation trails preferred
  • Experience in the use of accounting software (QuickBooks strongly preferred).
  • Knowledge of Nonprofit accounting and fund accounting preferred.
  • Able to complete timely and accurate account reconciliations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with positive attitude, remain focused on results, and respond to changing priorities
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English with the ability to operate in a culturally diverse organization
