  • Overview

    Reporting to the Country Operations Management Unit (COMU), the Mobile Money Management Officer (MMMO) will be responsible for managing the payments going through the Mobile Money Platform at the Central Office. S/he is responsible for making the MMS blasts as per the established processing times, ensuring all supporting documentation is included, and that data is cross checked for its integrity of the fees structures and mobile numbers, while following up with queries with prompt resolution as they arise. The MMMO works within the Accounting Department to safeguard the assets (financial and physical) of MSH and ultimately of the donor against fraud, loss or misuse. The MMMO is aware of, and adheres to, MSH’s ethical conduct and procurement integrity standards in all activities

    Specific Responsibilities

    • Receive mobile money requests from staff. Create computer folders, sub-folders, directories and sub-directories to store the files.
    • Review MM data for deficiencies (names and numbers) and to ensure data is complete and accurate (no duplications) before processing.
    • Blast Mobile Money requests following strict timelines and protocols.
    • Verify and test customer account data by calling the phone numbers to confirm validity.
    • In put (incorporate) cash out fees on the MM blasting forms.
    • Compile MM payment vouchers with complete supporting documentation for payment / blasting.
    • Resolve discrepancies by using standard procedures or returning incomplete documents to the lead person for resolution.
    • Attend to and address all queries in a timely manner and provide feedback to the lead person.
    • Manage MM account in Quick Books and ensure that it has sufficient funds at all times.
    • Reconcile MM account monthly based on statement and identify and sort out all discrepancies.
    • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Management or any related field
    • 3 Years of work experience in data process required
    • Experience in working with mobile companies in mobile money management will be an added advantage
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel in particular) and database software required
    • Self-starter who can work well independently and also work effectively as a team member
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines with positive attitude, remain focused on results, and respond to changing priorities
    • Excellent attention to detail, speed, accuracy and thoroughness
    • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to operate in a culturally diverse organization
    • Able to complete timely and accurate mobile money account reconciliation
    • This line of work requires considerable attention to detail and the ability to spot erroneous information
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
